This moment is momentous The occasion is occasional The stupor is stupendous Remarks they are remarkable Language will be trampled by the horse that she rode in on Sentences are sent less Adorable is out the door The acronyms will eat their larger brothers Til one day we won’t speak no more Language will be trampled by the horse that she rode in on

This is the way we roll – lemming-like in a line We make it to work on time – for a thousand Mondays The arteries of the beast even digits heading east with odd pathways to it’s mouth A Thousand Mondays Upsize – capsize – business is fine Break lights are towing the company line This is not the dream your momma sold you when you was ten The office is like a hive – cubicles honeycombed But you’ve left the sweetest things at home For a thousand Mondays That a billion years of genes Could culiminate in this Where we sit before flashing screens When once there were just days Upsize – capsize – business is fine Break lights are towing the company line This is not the dream your momma sold you when you was ten So this is the way we roll – lemming-like in a line We make it to work on time – for a thousand Mondays

Always in the backseat and drinking up the medicine Amerika Put your finger on the trigger and tweet about the mess we’re in Amerika But I remember you – shiny as the days are long Youth lends a hue –but now I’m wondering where the color’s gone Now I’m in the backseat and drinking up the medicine with Amerika

Feckless 04:09
When I was a young man I was feckless and a child Now after being wreckless I second guess each smile Can’t let nobody get a hold on me No one’s gonna enter a door that isn’t open And if you shutter up the windows How can you let hope in

There is no ignoring what’s in front of you When your eyes and your heart, they collide And funneling for truths in these present times Is tunneling for proof that there’s land mines There is no denying what is behind you There are ghosts if you dare to tune in Reaching out for you in your happiness And blossoming into a distracted mess There is no destroying what is under you History’s for the victor to write

If I was a bird I could wing it In the absence of words then I could still sing it But I haven’t got a beak and I haven’t got the time To make it rhyme – to make it rhyme I miss the good old days when I was listless But no butterfly crawls back to chrysalis I see the times have changed Some folks are deranged and less with it Less with it If I was a bird I could wing it If I didn’t have the words then I could still sing it But I haven’t got a beak and I haven’t got the time To make it rhyme – to make it rhyme

about

Gifts of a Magpie- strangely shaped or shiny things gathered, mined, polished, lifted from the songwriting trenches in a flighty fashion - here aggregated and quixotically waxed about. A hot mess of different tunes. Half are wordless things - a collection of mostly home but a few studio recordings, many culled from submissions to a songwriting group and also outtakes from a previous and an upcoming album- this other album which is all but done and in the wings- proceeds from this collection will be used to finish mixing / mastering the new one- Making art so I can make more art.

A baker's dozen (13 tunes)- available here digitally OR get a 26 tune package as part of a limited run of 150 CDs with a hand stamped cover mailed to you by purchasing the physical CD option. They will mail out by late September -

about

Wilson Marks Austin, Texas

Wilson Marks studied jazz in New Orleans and tacos in Austin TX. Pop-sensible melodies over technical, jazz-inspired fretwork. His voice is one part gravel (a la Tom Waits), one part whimsical (more like Harry Nilsson). Songs of love and longing, but more magical than your average fare, like the love and longing from one alien to another, from a merman to his mermaid. ... more
